Please Don't Travel This Road Alone!

My entire family cared for my mom. We did everything necessary and never asked for a hand. Of course, care providers were there. And they could have cared for her with love also. But we GAVE and GAVE and GAVE.

And after she passed, I realized that it wasn't all our responsibility. We did not need to sacrifice anything, and we could have sought support.

So many of my friends have now been in-home caregivers for their loved ones and share with me the difficulties of taking on this role in todays world:
I work full time but can't get away.

I work from home but can't get out for meetings.

I am not a worker but I can't take the time to do my self-care: yoga, workout, massage, facial, GROCERY SHOPPING ALONE!!!

I feel like I am always "ON" and I just need a nap.

There is no reason for any of us to feel like we are abandoning them to take care of ourselves. We cleave our children into daycare and school and that allows us "free time". We just need a partner who we trust to support the care for our adult loved ones

It isn't rocket science that we don't need to go it alone...

...or that caregiver stress, is on the rise because we are trying to do it all.
